    3 x + y = 243
    2x – y = 1

    3 to the power of x + y (not 3 x + Y) = 243
    and 2x - y = 1 (not to the power of)

    From the first equation, you can rearrange by taking logs on both sides.



    Using the power law, we get:



    Now, divide by log(3);





    Now that you got two linear equations, can you work the rest out?
