    Who does Recorder of Deeds in a PA County report to?
    What is the Chain of Command going upwards from the Recorder of Deeds in a Pennsylvania county? Need to try to find the authority they answer to and it may take moving beyond the county level to find cooperation. Certainly there are guidelines of operating that all PA counties adhere to to some degree. Need to find out what these are. Thank you

    The Recorder of Deeds either is generally the County Clerk or reports to the County Clerk. Generally a County Clerk reports to the County Executive. However, County Clerk is often an elected office and is somewhat independent.

    Just having problems getting documents recorded in one county. They keep changing requirements (even price) as I go along even though I asked very specific questions before beginning the process. Just trying to find a higher authority that can help clarify what is actually required and what is this particular office's preference only. Thx

    Start either with your elected county representative or the county executive.
