    grand am 2003 problems starting
    I have a 2003 grand am.
about a month ago we totally lost all power to the car, but it would randomly start. We took it in to the dealer and it got fixed. But now its not starting again. Some times the lights turn on, soemtimes the windows are work able. Or sometimes nothing. The car doesn't turn over it doesn't even try to start.
we have no idea what to do, and I'm sick of taking my car into the dealer once or twice a month and them telling me nothing is wrong, or it getting fixed and it breaks 3 weeks later.

Ok, bear with me on me trying to help but my friend has a grand am that started doing the same thing and if you look in the fuse compartment and try a few main fuses and take them out nad put them back in or just try some of the fuses. I don't really know how to explain to you what I am talking about but fuses were the problem with hers and it worked. They are know to have fuse problems. Hopefully someone can help you with this more.

We've had several Grand Ams, that may have been 2003s, with similar problems. The problem was with the security system.

It's always a good idea, when you have an electrical problem, to test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

See if this recent post helps:

A bug in 2001 Pontiac Grand Am's causes them to simply not start, right out of the blue. Better hope you're not in the wrong neighborhood when it happens 'cause almost nobody knows what the fix is.

(PRWEB) February 21, 2005 -- If you own a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, you'd better hope you're not stuck somewhere bad when this hits: You go to start your car, and the engine cranks, but it seems like your out of gas, and won't start. Numbers of people then have the car towed to a shop, only to find that the car easily starts after being towed, but no cause is ever found.

The problem is that the RKE (remote keyless entry) system has a defect in it that causes car not to start. As of now there is no recall on the passlock systems. As for a fix, the experts are honestly not sure.

To reset the computerized system, put key in the ignition and leave it in 'On' position for about ten minutes. Then turn it off, and try - it should start then. Warning: continued resetting of the computer this way will eventually damage computer and will cost lots to replace/fix.
