I am replacing a wall toggle switch for some outside security lights with a programmable timer. But the switch I am removing doesn't have a neutral wire and I can't find one in the box where the feed comes in from the breaker and the lights. The existing switch only uses 2 wires plus the ground wire. The home is only 5 years old. The timer requires 4 wires (hot, ground, neutral, and the one to the lights). How do I hook this timer up without a neutral wire, or how can I find the neutral in the box?

Neutrals may or may not exist in a box depending on how things are wired (power to switch or power to light). Most houses are wired as power to light.

Aside:
The white wire for the switch should be taped black to identify it a black wire. At the fixture the non-taped black wire from the switch should be switched power.

A three wire feed from the light will work, but you'll have to replace the 2-cond with 3-cond.

The switch box actually contains 3 toggles for 3 separate sets of lights outside the house. I pulled all 3 switches out and can now see that there are clearly only 2 wires coming from each set of light fixtures (plus the bare ground wire). Both wires are black. One goes to the toggle and the other is connected to the group wire nut for all the lights. Then, there is a black wire coming from the group nut to the switch. Would it work to not use either the neutral wire from the timer, or the red wire that is supposed to go the fixture? Or could I tie those two together?
