    Rat, Vole, Mouse, or other?
Can anyone help identify this rodent please?

Today it appeared from under my garden shed to see what my wife was feeding the chickens! It ate some of the chicken’s food posed for the camera (for 10min or so!) and then went back under the shed.

Whatever it is its very lucky the dog (Doberman) didn't spot it!

Chuck wins a cookie. It is indeed a gerbil and likely escaped from somebody, judging by how tame it is. Pets or no, they are rodents so you really don't want him around your coop. Try coaxing him into a cage so you can take him to the vet or pet store.

I'll ask around to see if anyone is missing a gerbil on my street, if not I will take it to the pet store.

One chicken was wondering what it was also!

    Very tame!

    Thanks for the help all!

Possible rat infestation [ 4 Answers ]
