    Halsey ceiling fan light
    I just installed a light on my remote-controlled Halsey ceiling fan. The fan and light both work, but I heard a "pop" and now the remote doesn't work -- well, not all functions. I can reverse the direction of the fan using the fwd/rev button, but the speed controls (high, med, low) and the off button don't work. Now my fan is running on high speed, and the only way I can shut it off is to flip the breaker! (The light I installed operates with a pull switch, which works fine.) Help!

    Sounds like you accidentally shorted and fried the receiver. Any idea of the brand name of the fan? Halsey makes fans for lots of companies.
