Do dogs stink more before they are neutered
My roommate has a dog that has not been neutered. My boyfriend says the reason the dog smells bad is because of that. He eats purina dog chow no human food, bathe him and within a few hours the smell is back. Tried hartz dog shampoo's with oatmeal and the foo-foo purple stuff and he still smells! It is making the house smell and we are trying to sell it and the realtor said people always comment on the smell. We use carpet fresh and febreeze and burn candles. I want to get to the root of the problem before I have to say he has to go

Better quality food can help with smelly dogs.
Get him off the purina and onto a better brand. You can also try adding essential oils to his diet. I just feed a tin of sardines in oil a couple of times a week, cheap and the dogs love it as a treat.
Another thing is to brush daily, even if it's a short coated dog brushing stimulates and promotes healthy skin.
If that fails then its time for a trip to the vet as there may be an underlying skin problem that needs treating.

Usually a dog shouldn't "stink", they may have a slight odour but if it is over powering then there is something wrong. Neutering has nothing to
Do with scent. Like shazzy said, try changing up his
Diet. Have you looked at his teeth? My dog had an odour and it turned out it was his teeth, I try and brush them every few
Days.

My dog has allergies - my Vet told me that the #1 cause of itching and inflammation in dogs that HE sees is Fabreze.

Can he not stay somewhere while you try selling the house?

Omega oils are a great way to help with stinky dogs. Sardines will work, but the deep sea fish is where all the fatty omega oils are. Like cod liver oil, or salmon oil.
Shazzy, suggested to change the dog food, and I second that. Purina isn't a very good quality food, and with your dog stinking, I would say he is having a reaction to his food.

Years ago, my mother-in-law had a beagle - a STINKY beagle - I seem to remember there was some sort of 'scent gland' (not sure what its really called) issue near (in?) her backside that they had to address for the smell. (I don't think I'm making this up - I know it sounds weird, but I'm pretty sure this was a topic around the dinner table a couple of years ago - classy... ) What breed of dog are you dealing with?

Beat me to it - I was going to ask about his anal glands.

Salaams.
I have two adorable kittens and I'm thinking of getting them neutered/spayed.
My reason for it is because if they had kittens of there own I would not know who to give them to. Also, if I do find homes for them, I'm afraid that once the kittens grow up, the owners will just get...
