Can I take legal action against previous employer?
I have been with perkins for 12 yrs (2 stores) a year ago our gm got fired because he was 'too lenient' with us. We got this HORRIBLE,inexperienced woman, who stole from the company,as the new gm. She has treated me like garbage for a long time(as well as others who weren't her 'favorites') I had gone 12 yrs w/o a guest complaint. And all of the sudden I got 3 in 2 days! I got demoted. The other day I was sick of the abuse,I said I was going to call paul,HER manager. She called me in the office and taunted me w/his phone number, laughing, and I knew I couldn't prove it.An hour later she said I got a complaint,a black customer said I never checked on him after bringing his food! She said I discriminated and was FIRED! I have mixed race kids! I would NEVER treat a black customer bad due to his race! There is NO written proof of this complaint.Do I have ANY legal recourse at all,if so, WHAT? PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE!

Its employment at will - you could be fired for anything or nothing at any time. Unfortunate but true.

She could have fired you because she simply didn't like you.

You can always contact her Supervisor and explain your side of things - but I'm not sure it would change things.

I'm so sorry you lost your job, particularly in this economy.

I will suggest that you have made a mistake by giving the name of your employer. If that employer sees this and decides you are slandering the restaurant you could have legal problems. Hopefully that will never happen.

I couldn't care less if they take legal action against me! The general manager is a thief, and she was caught with a deposit she had 'forgotten' to take to the bank! And she was given HER job back! Let them come at me with something!

Then do it your way - retain an Attorney, sue the company. That's the only way to get resolution.

I advised you how not to get sued. Most people try to avoid getting sued but if you don't care if you get sued post this info on every website you can find. Maybe you'll make a difference, maybe you won't.

I'm a liability investigator - I've been called out on matters such as these where I've asked people if what they read adversely changed their opinion of someone or something. Do I think these cases are foolish? Yes, I do. Do people still sue? Yes.
