I would start with cleaning the lint filters (deep inside with a long brush) and making sure the dryer vent hose going to the outside vent is free of lint. This happened to me and it turned out the vent on the outside of the house was totally clogged with lint.

    Worth a try.

    Hi Lisa –

Thanks for sharing your ideas and experience. I cleaned as much as I can reach in the lint filter and unplugged the vent. Then when I start a load, it blows out for couple minutes and stopped.

Does this mean fan is not working or I did not clean the lint filter enough?

    Any suggestions?

Well, I'm no pro and I only know from my own dryer experience - which was that the vent outside was clogged. However, I do believe that the dryer only blows air for a short time (to bring the inside of the dryer up to maintain a certain temperature). Then the blower stops and comes on again as the temperature of the air in the dryer drops. However, the dryer should still run. So do you mean the dryer shuts off?
Was there a lot of lint in the hose or outside vent?

I'm sorry I'm afraid I'm not much help.

Problem solved! It was a disc of lint. I opened the back part of the dryer right next to the air out vent and discovered inch thick disc of lint sitting right above the fan. Took that culprit out, vacuum and put the cover back and my old Kenmore dryer dries just perfect.

Thanks to Jonalisa and “askmehelpdesk.com” for directing me to the solution. I also read and learned many other home improvement ideas from this site. This is one of the great site out there with hundreds of others.

    Thanks,

    Good for you!
That probably saved you a lot of money and the risk of a fire.
