    Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to claim him as a dependent on your taxes:

    Also, if you are unmarried, depending on circumstances, you also may be able to file as head of household:
    Publication 501 (2009), Exemptions, Standard Deduction, and Filing Information

    If you can do one or both of these, you would have more of your income exempt from tax.
