    Landlord is not making repairs
I have been renting an apartment for almost 10 monhs now, and no repairs have been made. I filled out the checklist before moving in and was told that the issues would be taken care of. Since the we had a devasting flood in Nashville, and my ceiling leaked very bad in 7 spots, one which was in a light fixture. Maintenanace came in after several calls to them and stated tha it would be fixed and it has not that was in May, so when it rains it still leaks. The bug problem is another issue. Can I get out of this lease?

    Hello c:

Maybe. But, you have to give your landlord a chance to fix stuff. I know you already have, but you need to DOCUMENT it. This time, write your landlord a certified letter informing them of the damage. Send your letter return receipt requested. If they don't address the problem in a timely manner, write them another letter giving them 48 hours to fix the stuff or your will consider that you have been "constructively evicted" and will vacate at your earliest opportunity. Then if they don't, move, and sue them.
