In 8/1991 I work for Insight Distribution Network,INC. Located Tempe,AZ 85281 I worked for 14 mo. They had a 401k plan that I contributed to but totally forgot about, I believe the company merged with another but I am not positive,can I locate my lost 401k plan? How do I do it?or forget about the whole thing?

I suggest you start by digging through your old papers and see you can find anything that tells you who the plan administrator is. If you have an old enrollment form, or an old quarterly statement, that should tell you.

Failing that, do some research and see if you can locate the successor to your old employer. In fact, this may be them:

Call them and see if they are the same company, then simply ask how to get in touch with the plan administartor. It's most likely an investment firm like Fidelity or Vanguard, or a bank or insurance company that the company worked with locally to administer their 401(k) for their employees.

If that doesn't work, you can try the National Registry of Unclaimed Retirement Benefits (NRURB). An additional suggestion is to go on-line and search for abandoned property in the state of Arizona. Every state has a program to try to reunite people with their lost assets.
