Question..which is best...a .41 Rutger Red Hawl or a Colt .45 auto?

The best choice is the one you like most. Its really that simple. So long as your comfortable with the gun you shoot then there is the best for you. What fits your style may not work for someone else. I never rag people for their guns. Only for their lack of safety when it comes to being at the range.

There is so much out there and usually so much you can do to personalize one your options are almost unlimited. Its always "best" if you can handle it first before you buy one but with sites like gunbroker and auctionarms you can be like a kid in a candy store ;)

We usually visit a few gun shows. I'm not that much into gun shows but hubby likes them... Some of those guys (mine included) look at those guns like their looking at a woman:eek:

Speaking of target practice...

I was a miner for several years. Underground hardrock mines.

No coal mines they are a different world.

But we drilled and blasted are way around , unlike coal mines .Machines dig 'em.

So having the blasting certification I can purchase explosives easily and legally.

Have you ever shot dynamite with a gun? What fun that is!

The slugs hit with enough force to set off the dynamite.

I used 1/2 stick of 16" 90% per target. Set them at 125 to 150 yards out. Gave a target of 1" wide, 8" high.

When hit it sounds like a thunder clap . A good sized dust/dirt cloud too. It is more fun than humans should be allowed to have.

We would go out 40 miles in the west desert ,we call it, to be safe about it. No people , no animals, very little plant life.

We had shot 15 of the 16 we had out this particular trip, when I saw a pickup heading our direction,
It pulled up by where we were and a couple of the local red necks got out and came over to us.

We been hearing some damn loud bangs . That you boys?

I said yes , more than likely . We had been loading up bigger powder charges in the 300 mag and they were pretty loud. Kicked like a mule too. (I speak red neck)

Then I went to the stand, sighted in and shot the last target.

Literally open mouthed wide eyed stares from both for about 10seconds , Then the one who could talk looked at me and said, Will you load me up some of them , I'll pay you?

The person I was with has a nasty streak of morality and explained what we were doing.
But added we had special Federal Permits, and you would go to Federal Prison for 15 years if you got caught doing it without a permit.

I have little faith in anything legal and exploding :mad:.

I can buy dynamite legally... and posses it legally... Now you mention it , the legality of shooting it may need defining.:confused:

What good are hollow points? I know a .22 revolver isn't as effective as

When a hollow point hits , the bullet "mushrooms" and the energy is spread out into what it hits more than a regular bullet that uses the energy to "pass through" a target.

A well placed shot from a .22 will work. But the bigger the bullet, the more power it has when it hits to "stop" a target.

Like hitting someone with a pebble or a fist sized rock . The big rock will always work better

What good are hollow points?

The little hollow is really good for filling with mercury or silver or arsenic. A cap of paraffin and it is dispersed inside the target, guaranteeing a dose of heavy metal poisoning even if the bullet can be removed.

If you can get it, nicotine sulfate is an even better filling.
