Our 7 year old long-haired dapple doxie recently developed several health issues. The first one we noticed was his yelping in pain whenever we touched him, when he barked, or when the other doxies wanted to play. This sounds like a "disc" related injury, but other things were going on as well. It was diagnosed as that , also.
His appetite decreased. His abdomen and general torso area become taut like a drum especially toward the evening hours. There was no change in his solid elimnation and his voiding appears the same. There has been no vomiting, but his drooling ihas increased.
Also it was noted that his glands behind the jaw area are approximately three times as large as should be.
We have seen a vet, but I'm not sure the whole picture is being taken into account. We are giving him steroids and attempting to keep him 'quiet', and administering antibiotics for the glands.
Things do not seem to be improving. A once very active dog (though a tad overweight) has now become a near invlaid.
I have searched the web for some answers to no avail. I hope that you are able to give me some insight to what might be happening or at least a second opinion. Thank you in advance for any assistance you may offer.

If you do not think your Vet is seeing the entire picture or is not properly treating the dog you owe it to your pet to get another opinion from another Vet.

No one here can give you a second opinion without examining your dog. We may have suggestions and theories but no second opinions as such.

Your dog is obviusly uncomfortable, perhaps in pain. You need to consult with another Vet.

Yes I agree with Judy. Time to seek out another vet. It sounds like your dog is in pain.
