I went through adult diversion... am I bondable?
I had a shop lifting charge against me... but the police suggested that I go through adult diversion because it was my very first offense of any kind ever. I went through the program, and when I went back to court, the crown attorney said that the charge had been withdrawn upon completion, and said that it will not be relavant to anything unless I had a second offense, in which case they could bring this up. I've been looking for a job lately, and it seems that I am not getting any calls back, when I used to be able to find a job easily. I have been putting on applications that I am bondable, when it asks... but am I really? I don't understand the things I was reading on here about bonding companies and everything... I just want to know how to find out if I am bondable, and how to see if I do in fact have a record, even though I completed the adult diversion program.

The only way to know is to apply and see what the responses are - I can answer for NY. That answer would be no because a criminal check would turn up this charge.

    I don't know about Canada - apply and find out - ?

If your in the states contact the "State Bureau of Identification" and arrange to get fingerprinted and get a copy of your Criminal History. This may cost you.

I suspect it wasn't automatic. You may have to apply for expungement.

You can also try to get a copy of your Dockets at the courts involved by visiting the courts' records office directly. This may be free.

    Don't believe LE.
