Paternal Grandmother and my son agreed that he will live with her.
My son is in a program and ( Desoto Juvenile Detention Center) he is getting out oct 2010. He is 17 years old. His grandmother has agreed to let him live with her, she lives in St. Louis. What type of paperwork do I need to release him to her custody? Can I type up a letter and get it notarized or do I have to go through the courts in Hillsborough County.

    Moved to legal section

    Really a two point issue
    1. how he is being released, probation ( parole) if so who he is released to has to be approved by the probation system. And where he goes,
Is this Desoto MO. Just south of St Louis ?

Then assuming they will allow him to be released to someone other than a parent

You will have to arrange for at least guardianship to be given to grandmother if she is going to enroll him in school, get him medical treatment and more. So it would be a issue to be done though the courts

Upon completion of the program he will most likely have a PO. He is currently residing in Desoto, Florida. His grandmother lives in St. Louis,MO. So I still have to go through court system.

Yes, sorry for the city confussion, there is a city about 30 miles or so south of St Louis called Desoto ( wonderful little town ** )

Yes, it may even be an issue to go to MO. They will have to OK his transfer from Fl there. And it will have to be approved prior to release. If not he will have to be in FL till it is approved.
