    If, for whatever reason, the payments are not kept current, the mortgagee may foreclose, yes.

    And after they foreclose, they can obtain possession, evicting you if you are occupying the house.

    I thinink I was asking if the mortgae is kept up and she gets sick and is not on the deed can they put a lien on the propert for her medical bills

    A mortgage is usually secured by a deed of trust. SO how is this different?

    No. It's not her property. So if the health care providers get a judgment against her, the judgment could become a lien on her real property. The fact that she is on the mortgage doesn't make it her property.

    Well, actually a deed of trust is a substitute for a mortgage, not security for one.
