So I have a good ol' beauty question! I bet this questions already somewhere on here.. but oh well.
So.. I don't really have acne, but my cheeks are usually freakishly red, a side of my face is really dark compared to another (Its a birthmark, but its not EXTREMELY noticeable) and under and around my eyes are all dark. Basically my face is just really uneven colors. And I'm guessing this is pretty common but yeah.
I went to a dermatologist a few years back about the red face stuff because I also have it on my arms (but its not just red. Its gross bump-like things). And they diagnosed it as "Keratosis Pilarese". Which I researched once I got back home and it didn't really have like the same causes or whatever as what I had though it looked alike.
So my question(s?) are.. what face wash should I use? because every time I use stuff for like acne and uneven skin it has salicylic acid or whatever its called, makes me break out really bad.. and that's the only time I get pimples (though they aren't that bad).
And then my other question is like, what should I use as for as products?
I used to wear powder, but it makes my face looks even worse and I can't find anything good in a reasonable price range. I even splurged and bought some stuff from Sephora a lady recommended but it just looks terrible, especially when my face is in one of those dry skin moods!
Then I went back, and they tried tinted moisturizer.. and I just look like a cakeface oompa-loompa! Which is definitely NOT what I want, but that's what I'm using now because honestly its better than nothing. Ya know?
Oh and, if you know anything that would help with the gross red stuff on my arm also, please share, because it drives me insane and its one of my biggest insecurities..

You took the first step by going to a doctor. I had acne and used everything. Now I use cetaphil cleanser and lotion. I would continue with treatment from a doctor (find the right one). I use a tinted lotion and I love it. Makeup can be your best friend if used the right way. Derma blend is good for heavy duty jobs. You need to find a great makeup artist to show you how to apply makeup correctly. Try Mac. They will do your face if you buy $30 in products and they have classes. I would invest in makeup until I found a doctor that could provide a solution for your skin. When I had problems with acne I did my own research and just tried products because I didn't have anything to lose. No one knows your skin like you do.
