1996 toyota avalon blower only works on high
I have a 1996 Toyota Avalon. My battery died last week. After replacing my battery, the air/heat blower now only works on high. No air blows on the lower settings.

Any ideas on what happened? Is this related to the battery dying or just a coincidence?

    Thanks,

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 1 min. be sure all systems are shut off before disconnect.
Your car has a blower control module, not a resistor.

Thanks kitch, but no luck. I disconnected the negative battery cable for 1 min. with all systems shut off, then reconnected and tried the blower - but the same problem exists?

Should I now try to replace the blower module?

What do you have to lose? It's the next step. Check out Standard Motor Products, Part #RU265, $36.79, RockAuto.com.

Sorry it didn't work. Toyota calls the part a "POWER TRANSISTOR" (Auto A/C)
If you have manual A/C, then it would need a blower resistor.
