    Hot water heater
My hot water heater went out recently and when I tried to re-lite it , it would not stay lit. Any suggestions?

Most (I think) would agree that the thermocouple is bad. That's an $8 part.

It could, though, also be the valve itself.

Are you a do-it-yourselfer? If so, then replace the thermocouple and see if that takes care of the issue. If that does not take care of the issue, then call a local repair person that will give you a free estimate to find out what needs replaced or repaired.

From there you can decide whether it is something you can do yourself or not.

Let us know how it goes.
