My puppy was diagnosed with Parvo, but I'm afraid it was a false positive.
My puppy Alex is about 16 weeks old. I rescued her from a very bad environment in a nearby city. The past week she started vomiting. I thought maybe it may be the fact that she chews everything she can get her little mouth on. Then, about 3 days ago she started having diarrhea, and 2 days ago I noticed weight loss, no appetite, and no energy. I took her to the animal emergency hospital yesterday and they said she tested positive for Parvo. Well I couldn't afford the $1300 for the treatment to stay at the ER all weekend so I bought the antibiotics and Reglan and I'm giving her I.V. treatments at home. I started introducing her to white rice with chicken broth and minimal water every half hour (just small amounts of food at a time). Well this morning she finally ate a little rice and then a little cottage cheese! And she is not dehydrated. This morning after she went to potty, she started running around the yard for a minute and proceeded to try and chew things up again. For the past hour she is back to just laying around. Is there a chance the test results could have came back wrong? If not, can dogs survive this? I have moved her and her bed to the main living room which is hardwood floors and not putting her in her kennel (I don't care to clean the mess I just want to keep her comfortable). I also sleep in there on the couch to keep her close by and try to spoon feed her every hour. Is there anything else I should be doing? If so, please help. I don't want to lose her.

My puppy had parvo, and he also ate everything in sight including the side of my house. Anyway, he stopped eating and drinking and after 3 days I took him in to get tested and it was positive. I couldn't afford the 1300 to help him either so I did the IV treatment at home, and in the meantime researched online and found something called Parvaid. It's about $60 and its an all natural liquid that you put in their mouth every 4 hours. Even if your puppy doesn't really have parvo it is a great prevention tool. My dog was completely healthy again after one day. It's something to look into anyway, but hope your puppy gets better!

My puppy Sadie had parvo too, she was only 7 weeks. We as well could not afford the vet cost. I stayed home with he and gave her Pedia Lite (Strawberry) with Syringe every 10 min for an hour after that I forced it every 30 min for 3 hours after that every hour. I also opened a tablet of Amoxicillin used half poured it in water and syringed that down her throat. It wasn't to treat the Pavo but to prevent bacterial infections from her intestinal track. I bought a baby ana thermometer and took her temp every hour as well Normal dogs temp is higher than ours 99-102.. she had no temp so that was good...
I didn't feed her since she was not hungry. I kept her in her Kennel so that she would stay calm and was not walking around. She was cured the next day... Parvo stays in her system like chicken pox so anything that causes extreme trauma can make it come back.
Hope this helped people who were as worried and scared as I was.
