    Trane 1000xe problems
My trane 1000xe is about 10 years old and is leaking. Apparently there is a bad leak in the inside evaporator coil. The compressor is fine but the system is not cooling. Should I get a new system or replace the coil which has a warranty of 5 years? Thanks for any advice you can give me. Nancy

At 10 years of age you are getting close to replacement but as always let your wallet be your guide.

The reason I went with Trane was because of its reputation that it would last 15-20 years. The previous Rheem system lasted 25 years (I was told). Replacing the coil would cost $1k.
