The outlet for my dryer made a popping noise when I turned the dryer off. Fuse?
I had the dryer running and turned it off. At that time, the outlet made a popping noise. The dryer doesn't run anymore. Can it be fixed?

    Hi Marian...

Most likely the issue is directly at the outlet itself.

The outlet will either be 3 prong or 4 prong... take a look at the plug itself. Then off to home depot or Lowe's and pick up the correct replacement outlet.

Then, someone comfortable working with electricity will need to shut off the power and inspect the old outlet... could be as simple as the ground making contact with the hot or neutral wire connections... ;) It could also be very old wiring and then there may be other issues here.

Then he/she will rewire the new oulet and you should be back up and running!

Not a tough job, but still need someone with electrical knowledge to install the new outlet!

Any questions, just pop back and let us know...

Strangest thing... when son got here a few hours ago - the dryer worked again. Turned it on again just now and it still works. Weird. I know I heard a pop. Gremlins.
    Thanks for your response, Mark.
