I have this money I need to know how much its worth in USD
Many of you know my grandmother just died. My aunt and mom and I have been going through her things and organizing. And we found 1000 yen. Its paper, and my mom said they discontinued paper. We aren't sure how much it is worth. It says nippon ginkgo on it. Here is a scanned picture of it.

    Hi, jenniepepsi!

As far as the equivalent in U.S. dollars as far as currency is concerned, it wasn't worth much. Please click HERE.

As far as a collectible value, I'll do some checking and get back to you.

    Thanks!

I have the main books on U.S. coins and currency. But, I don't have any current ones on the foreign denominations.

Because of the image, it would appear to have at least a couple of folds in it. Does it lie flat on it's own when placed on a flat surface? Also, is it "stiff" or now somewhat limp when you hold it?

    Thanks!

No it doesn't lay flat, its not stiff. It looks like just a generally used paper money. Folded, wrinkled, and such.

    Hi again, jenniepepsi!

There are similar ones on the following links.

    LINK ONE

    LINK TWO

    LINK THREE

    LINK FOUR

Please keep in mind, the condition of yours as compared to any others that you might find. Also, I think what makes a difference in the pricing is the letters and numbers that are at the bottom of the front side.

    Thanks!

Thanks hon! It seems to be worth about 20-30 USD. Uncerculated mint condition it is 300 or so. But used its not. Lol.
    Thanks a lot :) *hugs*

You're welcome and I hope that things are better for you now!

I'm not so sure about the pricing on the one in the last link that I gave to you. I strongly suspect that whoever posted that was seriously bumping up the price!
