I know a 16 yr old girl who is having a sexual relationship with a 46yr old man is this legal

Depend on where she lives. Laws vary. Most places set 16 as the age of consent, but there is often a clause dealing with the amount of the difference and the relationship of the older person. Whether its legal or not, its sick.

I'm shuttering at the idea of that relationship but if it's the legal age of consent in the state there's no reason it can't go on. I agree with scott thinking its revolting and disgusting but no need to disagree with his correct statement.

OP should read the rules of the site. Asked a question, got the legal answer, disagreed with it - and is wrong.

This is most definitely NOT an illegal relationship - and this is the legal board.

If OP wants personal advice on how disgusting this relationship is or is not this should be moved to the relationship board.

Did you really mean to disagree with what I posted? I know the new interface for this site makes it a little confusing on how to respond to an answer. If you want to comment on the response you can use the Agree/Disagree feature. Use the Disagree ONLY if you are pointing out a factual error. That's why people responded to your comment negatively, since my answer was factually correct.

If you want to ask a follow-up, use the Answer This Question options.

But the bottom line is we can't give you a complete answer without knowing the general area because laws differ. We need to know the area and the relationship between to the two parties to help.

Depends on your version of legal. It may be legal for a 16y/o to consent. But at the same time if he were to take a picture of her in an inappropriate way then that would be illegal (consenting or not). So there are many angles to all of this. Mostly for starters it depends on law where they live.
