My sister will be three in September. Two weeks ago she was taken away from my step mother by CPS. She is now in foster care. Both addicts and my father is physically and verbal abuse. I want guardianship of my sister, but I am only 17. How would I go about getting custody of her?

Its unfortunate but being 17 you can't get guardianship. The reason is because your not of legal age to sign anything. You would have to be at least 18. Who are you with at this time? Maybe they could be guardian ?

Since at 17 you have to legally be "with" someone as noted. Would they be willing to take her in at least temp ?

Well, I live with my mother and we already have custody of my niece. I feel like it would be unfair to my mom to ask her to take my sister as well. I'm almost out of school, I have a job and I plan on going to a community college. I was thinking that maybe I can save up some money and just get my feet on the ground and hopefully be able to get my sister soon. My step mother has had HIV for the last 16 years. I do not think she will be around for much longer.

I'm a 21 year old female and I know for sure that my mother envys or takes her anger out on my little sister because she's not with her dad anymore I've seen the phisical abuse with my own eyes when my sister is acting like a child and running around and playing also there is a story that's been going around for years that my mothers father molested my aunt when she was younger and I noticed the weired behavior in the home he stays in his room all day until my mother goes to work at night then he decides to open his door and watch like a howk. Recently my mother put me out her home and I'm the person that mainly took care of the girls my gradfather is physical able to be because of medical conditions plus he's and alcoholic and actively smoke weed. Since I haven't been there for weeks she has't allowed me to see my siblings and won't let me talk to them on the phone she knows that's the only reason I would keep in contact but lately for the past few days I been having a bad gut feeling that something isn't right! What can I do as there older sister to figure out if there safe in that home?
