Safely Disinfect exe File
I have an exe file for a program that I ran through several online services to see if clean. They all came up with several trojans in the file. ( VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan, etc.)
By using the online file scanning, I never had to open the exe file.
I was wondering if there is a similar online service that could disinfect an exe file BEFORE I open it and infect my system?
I can't seem to find one that doesn't require installing the file on my PC first.
Thanks...

I have had no luck with online scans. I know a lot of them will say they found problems and will glady remove them for forty to a hundred dollars , when no problems really exsisted . I would discourage that route unless you are very familiar with those sites.
Try Malware bytes. You can get it free at download.com.
I have had great results removing trojans ,virius, and adware from a lot of my friends computers who found logging on to limewire with no antivirus is suicide.
Also Avast antivirus has a free addition that works very well. It has options to run at start up and checks things as they boot. It takes a while and you need to attend to give input on what to do with any infections it may find. But is worth a try. It too is available at download.com
Good luck

Trash the file and get the app from a reputable source. ;)

I ran it through Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, and my own Security Suite, Computer Associates (CA) A-V, and it came up clean.
The 3 online services that I used all came up with infections, but they do not offer any cleaning services.
Do you think the online scans could be a scam and the app is clean?
Can you recommend any way to be relatively sure?

By the way, I ran an exe file through these same 3 online scans that I knew was clean, and it came up clean on all 3.
Doesn't that suggest that they are not scams?

There is absolutely no way we can guarantee that a file you have is clean. If you got the file from a reputable source, i.e.. The publisher of the software, then you can be quite sure otherwise it is impossible for anyone here to offer any assurances. That's the chances you take.

Say NK,
Off topic, but since you are online, do you know of an app or any way to sync Gmail contacts with Outlook Express address book? (Not export / import).
I can't find anything online for OE, just Outlook.

My son just bought me an Android. Never used a smart phone before (only stupid).
I saw this app too, but wasn't sure if it would sync contacts to OE address book.
Does the install guide cover that?
Thanks!!

Hey feel free to start a thread about that. I'm still learning tons. The best thing so far is that it got me into Geocaching which I LOVE to do with my kids. Plus I love having my Gmail accessible on my phone. Then there's the Google Maps, and the neat free apps, etc...
I can't really help out with additional info about the live synchronizing, sorry. It's not something I've done.

Well thanks again.
I actually posted this question in the "Email" section, but no responses.
Do you think that "Computers for Beginners" would be better / appropriate?

I think it's in the right place. The challenge with the situation you have is that you're trying to make something automatically update Windows Address Book which doesn't seem to be a popular thing to do.
I found another app but it has sparse info: Synrc Contacts
