        Special diet ideas

I will be having new friends over for dinner. I need ideas for a meal for someone who cannot eat gluten, wheat or dairy and is vegetarian. So far the only ideas I have had are:

 A veggy curry?
Some cabbage rolls stuffed with a mix of mushrooms, onions, rice, maybe some nuts, flavoured with soy sauce or herbs and served with a tomato sauce?
 A mushroom stroganoff?
Perhaps some fruit sorbets for desert?

 Doesn't seem very special.

 Any ideas anyone please?

I had a delicious Thai pumpkin Curry recently. I can recommend that.
 I believe it was vegetarian.

A spinach or zucchini soufflé seems to fit the bill too.

 Have fun!

Soy sauce contains gluten.

Check into Indian (they are usually vegetarian) cookbooks -- at a bookstore or at your public library or online.

Also, some vegetarians turn out to eat fish or shellfish such as shrimp. You might check.

Some great ideas there, I will peruse them at leisure. :)

I do have a Japanese soy sauce called Tamari that is wheat and gluten free Wondergirl but thanks for pointing that out, I wouldn't want to mislead anyone else because as you rightly say most Soy sauces aren't.

No fish etc, I did check.

I have cooked vegetarian lots of times, and vegan occasionally, before it's just factoring in the wheat-free and gluten-free at the same time that's making it a little tricky.

Thanks for those resources people. :)
If anyone has more I would love to build up a collection to add to my repertoire.
