    Sentence for probation violation?
My husband stopped reporting to his p.o. because (from his words) his new p.o. (his original officer was transferred) was mean and expected so much money from him when he was elunemployed. He only had 6 months left after 2 yrs of perfect reporting, community service and passed all drug tests.
They picked him up three days ago. No court date yet. He was originally charged with class a misdemeanor burglary of a vehicle. What do you guys think? We have two kids that can't eat due to their worries. I need to know what you guys think so we can have an idea. Thank you for your time.

This is all going to be up to the Judge at his violation of probation hearing. Since this was not a major felony and a misdemeanor. The Judge really does not care if the PO was mean, nice, sweet, horrible to your husband. The fact is your husband needed to pay the fines (or whatever) and there is no excuse for it not being paid. You could have gotten a job, he could have gotten a second job or a first job or whatever. He needs to remember that he is/was on probation and had signed legal paperwork that he agreed to the financial obligations and other responsibilities of a person on probation. The Judge will be unhappy with him and maybe give him a few days in jail (depending on how long he's been there waiting for his hearing) and just maybe reinstate his probation but adding on more time for him to do.

You need to remember that probation is not a given. It is a privilege that a lot of people do not understand. He could have spent the entire time in jail but instead was given a second chance by the Judge.

Thank you twinkiedooter. I agreed with everything you said. He was being selfish and now my kids and I have to suffer. I had a visit with him last night and I told him to just admit to the judge that he was being irresponsible, no dumb excuse. His attorney said it might be 2-3weeks until court date so hopefully he doesn't have to stay in jail that long after court.
