Yes, and while I wish I could say everything should be the same from diocese to diocese but in many cases it will depend often upon the specific Diocese Bishops rulings over his area, and then even the specific Parish Priest and his own personal opinions.
As noted, yes since it was not a Catholic Church wedding and after the wedding in a different church or at the court house it was not latter blessed in the Church, to the Church you are still living in sin, just as if you were never actually married. ( maybe not to that real extreme but by pure church law that is the way it is stated.
Next of course you have not been to confession for 14 years either.
It was in the early 80's I did services for the RC Church outside of Denver on some of the Indian reservations and things there were more informal.
The same with some of the RC Catholic Ecumenical Centers on some college campus I had association with over 20 years ago.
But most likely you will have to have the marriage blessed ( service within the church) have your husband agree formally to allow the children be raised in the church. Next do you have children already, is so were they baptised in the church and have they been attending church ?
But the first stop is your local parish priest.
