Cat is 8 – neutered – male – approx 17 lbs – unusual gut howling not heard before when stomach touched – lethargic – very firm stomach area – making attempts to cause cat to vomit (3 tsp 3% hydrogen peroxide – one dose so far suggested 3 times (?))….what’s up here?

First off I don't know what you mean by 'gut howling'... anyway, who instructed you to give 3% peroxide? There are proper guidelines for administering peroxide and how much you should use.

What symptoms are you seeing? A lethargic cat is not a healthy one.

A firm stomach area to me would indicate that your cat is having trouble passing feces, so trying to make him vomit is not productive at all.

See a vet as soon as possible.

thank you for responding - the links on peroxide use are below:

    http://www.petplace.com/cats/how-to-induce-vomiting-emesis-in-cats/page1.aspx

    http://www.doctordog.com/catbook/catvomit.html

the cat vomited a huge fur ball, which is thought to be the result of excessive cleaning due to his troubled urinating - which obviously is a sign of another problem - kids finally found a vet to meet them at his office and have left for that = he is a wonderful cat so I now pray for his recovery!

    Thanks
