How to stop water from the leaking from the air conditioner inside the house
    Hi you guys!

My fiancé put our air conditioner in the window today. Problem is, water is leaking inside the house.

He has tried lifting it so maybe the water will leak outside instead, but he said that's not working. So now what?

    Thanks!

Window AC units condense water on the coils and then drains to the outside if you leveled it or had a slight tilt toward outside. Reread the installation instructions, shim if you have to.

You said lifted it,, does he have it so the back end is lower than the front end, by at least a inch or so? A little more tilt want hurt it

Stick with the installation instructions. Too much tilt on any compressor can cause problems, they are designed to be level. There is a water condensation pan inside and its about 1/2" deep so level is good.

We don't have installation instruction because the air conditioner was given to use by his friend.

Yes the air conditioner is low at the back where the water should be leaking, but its not

Drain tube or tray is plugged with junk. Do you see any tubing at all trying to come out the back of the unit or a spout stamped into the drain pan.

Agree with ballengerb1. Many window units have slinger blades on the condenser fan blade. It helps to cool the condenser by causing some of the condensate water to fly up on to the condensr coil. BUT if the interior drain in the window unit is plugged it can cause overflow into the home.

You might have to take the unit apart(outer cover off) and check the drain system for debris. Unplug the unit before service.

We figured it out. We bought a thick piece of plastic and put it on the bottom and sides of the air conditioner. Now the water leaks on the outside now :-)
