Installed new fan/light & light does not work. Why?
I installed a new Hampton Bay 52" Ceiling Fan. This one had a receptacle that I attached to the electric box in the ceiling. I inserted the hot (black) wire into the L1 terminal and the white lead from the house into the W terminal of the receptable. I inserted the fan motor male plug bracket ino the hole in the center of the receptacle and turned the canopy to the right to lock it into place. After installing the decorative ring, I removed the switch housing cover and after screwing the decorative ring to the glass, removed the finial at the bottom and inserted the plug into the receptacle, heard the click, replaced the finial and turned on the electricity. However, the light did not light even after pulling on the chain that controlled it. What could be the problem? It appears to be a wiring problem to me. What do you think?
