Some films won't play on my Ibook G4. Please help.
I think I need to download Xvid codec package, but when I do and click on it all I get is a load of code in text edit. I may be going down the wrong route, not sure. Basically, I just want to be able to play movies on quick time, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have leopard installed and an extra Gig of ram, making it 1.5gig now, if any of that helps.

    Thank you for reading :)

When you download the divix drivers/codecs. Are you sure they are for a mac and not for PC? It sounds like that could be the problem. Divx is good software.

Here is a simple solution to your problem, which is free. First, download Perian. Just Google it. Perian is a set of all kinds of codecs for the mac, if you have that installed, just about anything will work. At this point, quicktime will likely start playing your movies. The reason I say "likely" is because quicktime is extremely picky about what it can play even with those Perian codecs. If your movies still don't play, download "VLC Player". It is an excellent free application and I have never ran into a video file that it could not play. It is free, you can also Google it.
