Can changes make a trained dog poop and pee in the house
My six year old male dog has started pooping and peeing in the house this week. My daughter moved out on Monday and he has not acted the same since. He is at home
Alone more now, but I come home during the day and take him out. We have also experience some serve weather when he has been here by himself. Could these two things be what is going on with him or is it something more serious?

I'm sure he misses her but he's probably used to her being home to let him out during the day too. How long is he home by himself before someone can let him out.

I have been coming home twice a day (around every 3 hours). He has been left prior to this week for as much as 6 hours, with no accidents. Tonight I was only gone 1 1/2 hours and he did both while I was gone. We did have a really bad storm while I was gone though.

Storms can literally scare the feces out of some animals, but it sounds like you're dealing with some separation anxiety as well. Check through the forum here, many of our experts have recommended several techniques for dealing with that.

Most dogs who suffer from separation anxiety will do their "worst" with in the first half hour of you being gone.

Your daughter moving as well as a storm can absolutely cause anxiety and dogs to react in strange ways.

Have a look at the other threads as Catsmine suggested, also you can type in "separation anxiety" in the search bar at the top of the page. If you have any other questions or want us to elaborate on something specific, just ask. :)

I've had my German Shepard dog since she was 8 weeks old. I would say that my dog is very well potty trained, if I am at home. But once I leave the house, she finds different places to pee and poop. It's never just one or the other. She doesn't pee and poop in one place. She pees in one room...

I have a 4 year old Jack Russell / Rat Terrier mix. She is sweet as she can be, but she still poops and pees in the house. We house trained her when she was a pup, and she does use the bathroom outside. However, she will go out sometimes and then come in the house and go poop in a room. She...

My chocolate lab/mix has never had any accidents indoors. He's 3 y/o and was housebroken when I adopted him and never had any "accidents" in the house until recently. About a month ago, I was cleaning up something in the LR and noticed a urine odor and found a wet spot on the oriental rug (I...

Dog will not pee or poop outside [ 1 Answers ]

I just adopted a 2 year old greyhound terrier mix from the kennel four weeks ago. The kennel said that he was an inside dog. The problem is getting him to go to potty outside. He seems to be shy about peeing and pooping. I have taking him for a two hour walk through the park and around the block...
