    h4 visa extension
    Hi,My name is Chandni and I am on H4 visa accompanying my husband who is working here on H-1 , his visa is valid up to september ,2012 , however my visa expires on 19th August , 2010 . I would appreciate if I could receive guidance to the procedure for extension of my H4 visa .

    Hi, are you referring to the visa in your passport or your I-94? Also, please don't use the yellow to highlight words, it is very difficult to read.

    Oops I mean visa on passport is valid up to September 2012 , m referring to I94

    You would need to apply for the H-4 visa at a US consulate with evidence of your husbands H-1B approval notice or visa.

    Usually this is done at your home consulate, but since you have had the H-4 visa issued already, check with an immigration attorney that does NIV CP, as you may qualify to apply for the H-4 visa in Canada or Mexico as a TCN.

    Did your attorney tell you why you got a different visa validity period than your husband? Generally it is if your passport is expiring or the FAM reciprocity schedule indicates a limited visa validity duration. I hope this response was helpful, good luck!
