We just installed a new Aqua Source single handle shower faucet (model 2098500701) in our daughters bathroom. I have read posts from others having a similar problem with either no or little hot water. I just wanted to know if this faucet would also have a scald guard behind the handle that we can adjust as the Moen faucets do. I do not remember the instruction manual mentioning anything about this & unfortunately we have misplaced those instructions now. We get plenty of hot water in the sink next to the shower, so I do not feel that water pressure or clogged lines is the issue.

I would be very surprised if it did not have a adjustable rotation limit stop. I think with most aqua source faucets if you remove the handle and the trim kit you should find a little red sleeve. If you gently pry this out and then rotate it counter clockwise and replace it you should be good to go. You may have to try a few positions and check with a thermometer to make sure you have it set where you like and complies with you local code.

I actually just tried to adjust my Aqua source shower handle before finding this post. You have to remove the small screw on the front of the stub and remove a metal piece before you can slide the red collar off easily to adjust it.

Correct... most of the shower faucets today come with so called anti-scald ring. This ring is factory preset at about 108 F which is not hot enough. You have to adjust it yourself.

I just had the same problem with mine and quickly fixed it by removing the handle and plate and moving the red looking ring clockwise. You have to pull it completely off to adjust around the threads.

I finished the basement and included a full bath. A plumber came in to reroute a few water lines and offered to install the shower kit. Well, lo' and behold, there was no hot water. At first, of course, believed the water wasn't routed properly. Followed the line back and all appeared okay with the line. Long story short, isolated the problem to the faucet valve. I did not have the manual... natural progression. So, here I am. The advice and instruction worked. Now, I have the "Man Cave" with amenities.

I also had this same problem. Some clarified steps:

1. loosen the allen nut holding on the handle, then remove the handle
2. loosen the screw holding on the handle adapter (it will be facing you after removing the handle)
3. remove the handle adapter
4. you will also need to remove the outer metal trim ring (no screws, just wiggle it off, its on snug)
5. that orange ring you see there controls the scald valve, pull it toward you to remove it noting its original position
6. each tiny notch on that plastic wheel is an increment in heat, move it a notch or a few toward the right to adjust the heat

I like hot showers, so I simply adjusted the orange/red ring as far as it would go to the right, abutting the plastic stopper. Voilà, done! Nice hot shower now. I guess folks in China where they make these Aquasource valves must have sensitive skin.

I had exactly the same experience. Two new such faucets installed in two different bathrooms. Both only had luke warm water at best. Nearby sinks had hot.

As pretty clearly described in previous posts, I had:
- use allen wrench to remove handle
- use phillips to remove the nut at the tip.
- use fingers to pull out the red plastic ring. (Have to pull hard)
- rotate clockwise by a couple threads, and put back.
- cant't rotate too far because the stop on the ring would prevent it from going back all the way, so can only rates a few degrees (maybe 10 degrees?)

What this does is it allows the tap to move a little further towards the hot (counter clockwise), so instead of moving from off to hot about 90 degrees to about 100 degrees. To put it another way, instead of before where the tap went from down (south) to stricht right (east), now it can go a little further which allows it to go 100% hot.

Problem solved. Plumbers, sales people in Lowe's, etc did not have the answer, but the web did. Thanks guys!

The shower faucet hot red dail has been turn all the up and still the water is not hot just warm but the sink has plenty hot water but if you turn the shut off to the hot water heater off it has no cold water in shower faucet also So my question is did the plumber install faucet correct and could he have got it the faucet turned over where shower is down and the spout is up? We have no manual Thanks

I have had a new soaker tub installed in my bathroom, the aquasource tub and dual shower one handle faucet does not let the water be hot enough. I have bought 2 sets of allen wrenches neither set has a wrench that will fit the nut. Can anyone tell me what kind of allen wrench it takes to get the thing loose?

I am having the same problem, only I have the Model #: 873-4801. I took the screw out of the center, but the silver case will not come off. How do I get to the red adjuster with this model.

First off, I want to say thanks to everyone in this post because it got me 95% of the way there to fix this problem - so thank you!

I was having the same problem that kim746 was having by not being able to get the silver case on - I went to far as to ruin the finish on mine. I then saw this picture and realized how to resolve the problem:

The sleeve on my facet hat to be screwed off counter clock wise but it was on so tight that I had a hard time doing it by hand so I used a rubber hot pad holder to help get a better grip. After that, everything was a breeze: I just removed the red plastic temperature control valve and put everything back together. Boom - instant hot water!
