P trap backing up and flooding the basement floor
Well I have a question on how to fix a p trap from backing up and flooding the basement floor. It only does it when we use the washer when it is raining outside. So how would I fix it?

Hilton, You piggybacked onto a old thread. You didn't say but if this is a floor drain that's backing up you can snake the floor drain and clear the line.
Another way would be tom install a Flood-Guard (see image) on the floor drain. Check them out at : Flood guards for floor drains - check valve to prevent flooding from FAMOUS PLUMBING SUPPLY If it's not a floor drain click on back and tell me about it. Good luck, Tom

Basement Floor Drain Backing up [ 1 Answers ]

My basement floor drain is backed up and there is an awful sewer smell. I've done some research on this forum and it appears the drain needs to be snaked. Now, should I buy a manual snake from the local hardware store or should I rent the electric version? I'm leaning toward buying the manual...
