    My 14 day old kittens have little black bugs on their stomachs what is this?
    My 2 week old kittens have bugs on their stomachs what is this and how did they get them. They have never been outside

    They are probably fleas, juices, wouldn't you know that. Probably got them from mom. You can't wash them yet, and you can't use any insecticide without damaging their respiratory sytems and tainting the milk they receive from mom. You will have to live with them for the time being because they are too young to touch without upsetting mom. Then all bedding will have to be washed, better still, if you can get mom and kittens off what they are using, throw it outside and get clean stuff, that would be good.

    In a couple weeks, when they're bigger and it's safer to bathe them, wash them in dawn dish soap. Just a little to lather up, and make sure you dry them off completely when you're done.

    Also, try to make sure that the dish soap you use is regular, without anything added. No bleach, as little added fragrance as possible, no lotions, or any other additives.

    The dish soap won't kill all the bugs, but it will help. In the mean time, and even after you bathe them, pick the fleas off with your fingers or a flea comb and drop them in hot, soapy water. Then wash them down the drain or flush them down the toilet. You can't really drown fleas, but the soapy water keeps them from jumping out, and the running water keeps them from crawling back up the drain.
