No lycra swim suit for women?
I am hopeless about clothes, so I am asking for help here...
I want to buy a swimsuit so I can swim. I hate lycra and spandex. I notice that men's trunks are often pure nylon and very light and they dry out quickly. In contrast, the suits I've bought in the past are super elastic, squeeze me uncomfortably and hold about 20 pounds of water. I hate them.
Are there nylon swimsuits for women or something similar?
Or at least with minimal lycra/spandex? I have no idea where to look for such a suit. I've never seen one. I know I will not look like a model. That is not the point. I definitely do not want to be "shaped."
Also, I am super modest and want to be covered up, but not look like I'm 80 years old.
This is probably impossible, but it can't hurt to ask.

Hm. I don't know about swimsuits like that designed for women. But one of my girlfriends used to wear boys board shorts instead of her bikini bottoms. You could try that.

Yeah. Anything goes now. Lands End features two piecers, the tops of which would work with boys board shorts.

You could always just wear a pair of men's trunks and a sports bra. The sports bra wouldn't dry as quickly as a swim top, but it might be more comfortable.

Thanks! You have confirmed what I was suspecting, that there's not much out there besides the board shorts and some kind of top. I kept thinking I was missing something obvious.
I smell a niche market.

The problem is that it's pretty much impossible to get the stretchiness of a typical women's swimsuit without lycra or spandex. Nylon just doesn't have the qualities needed to conform to curves properly. You'd end up with a lot of seams and unsightly bulges and corners and whatnot because it's just not stretchy enough to make a proper swim top.

I wear a pair of boardshorts and a tank top when I go swimming usually. I'm very conscious of my mid section and thighs!
Until they remodelled the pool in town of course, and now you aren't allowed to wear any sort of fabric in the pool other than regular swim suit material
Now I just go to the free pool at the basin, anything goes there, it's just not heated like the one in town!

No I have never heard of a nylon swimsuit. However many sports suits are modest and not very overexposing and they are designed especially for swimming not fun in the sun "swimming". ClubSwim, Speedo, Waterpro, Dolfin, these are all great brands of sport suits that a configured for competitive swimming so they may not retain much water and are definitely more modest than fashion suits.
