Sadness. I want my life back. I've been battling pain 4 over 20yrs. I got a pain doctor, but helpseems so far away. They want me 2 do these back injections. NO WAY.. I'm type 1 diabetic. Anyway had spinal injections in 1999 and they hurt me worse. This fentanyl. Does anyone have the stupid side effects I do? Stomach,abdominal pain, pulmonary pain, leg pain, PAIN, PAIN, PAIN.. I want to ask you about EMBEDA. 12 hours to a day? It is a morphine type pill. FDA recently put out. Did you like the gel patches better? Mylan brand has less side effects than Sandonz. Look on the box. Mylan has like 7.6(rounding to 8) and the Sandoz has 12.6 rounding to 13. Why? I have EXTREME anxiety. My doc knows, but prescibes anyhow. Hip pain down your legs like arthritis or something. Anyone have an answer? The side effects make me want to rip it off everyday, then the withdrawals come. Pain vs. all the above. GOD HELP ME and you if you read this..

We are prescribed medications to aid us in times when pains need to be regulated.Your necessity to be on this medication seems to be evident,and your doctor has given you what they seem to think will help you the best.

If you are trying to better doctor yourself because of the side effects,why stay with this doctor?Or why continue taking medications which make you sick?, YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF WHAT YOU PUT IN/ON YOUR PERSON,not them!

Asking for a different medication,seeking a different opinion(professionally),these things you are responsible for.If you are in distress over the meds,make changes, with other professionals, not on your own, but WITH them..

I don't like some of the side effects of the meds I have to take,some of them are just necessary as there is no other treatment available today,others can be alleviated by the use of other medications.Perhaps the upset stomach problem needs foods on a regular basis, or maybe you need something, chemically,(Prilosec, etc) to help you through the effects.

For any of us to tell you to change medications, well, we aren't doctors(at least I am not), go to your physician and discuss this other medication you are looking at and decide with them if this is the alternative you need to be on.

KBC has given you some great advice.

When you aren't getting results with a doctor, look for another. They're nothing special. This is particularly true when you are being prescribed many different drugs. Far too frequently the drugs begin to cause as many problems as the condition they are meant to treat.

I deal with pain of a daily basis too. But I am an addict, and I choose to NOT take narcotic pain pills. They got to be a major problem in my life, and I had to stop them altogether.

I am having hip replacement surgery in two weeks to get to the root of the pain problem. I recommend doing like these two learned gentlemen have mentioned, go to another doctor.

My dr. changed my pain meds from Fentanyl 25mcg/hr to Embeda 30/1.2mg every 24hrs with Percocet 10/325mg every 4hrs for BT pain. The Embeda is causing severe abdominal pain and is not controlling my chronic pain very well. I will be requesting a change in meds next visit. Please be aware the Embeda has Naltroxalone in it and can cause withdrawal symptoms, although my PM dr. neglected to inform me of this.

I've never heard of the drug Embeda EMBEDA - Home Page before. I can see how and why this drug would be created. It has the morphine for pain relief, and it also contains Naltrexone for the prevention of the ever present euphoria that's associated with narcotic pain medicines.

I don't think that the withdrawal symptoms that you're experiencing are from the Naltrexone. Well, indirectly it is. I think that the Naltrexone is blocking the opiate from giving you the feeling that these drugs usually do. I know Naltrexone. I've taken it before. I know that it blocks the usual "buzz", and feeling of "well being".

This also is working to block the Percocet. As long as your pain management is being taken care of. That's a good combination for someone who may be having some problems with the addictive nature of these drugs.
