Child left with grandparents and no support from the parents
My step-daughter moved to Indiana the last of March 2010 and left her 2 year old daughter with us the grandparents in Texas. She moved in with a man there and had asked us to let her get settled and then bring the child to her in Indiana. Well she was the only one in the household there with a job and spending every dollar she made on rent, rental furniture and food for the two of them, she was calling asking us for money for gas and cigarettes before she got paid again. It is now June and the man has since gone to jail for probation violation in which she paid him out of and still has not provided us with any support for her daughter and is now been thrown out of the apartment by this man, his name was apparently on the lease. She is now living with some friends or another man I am not sure and only calls when she needs money what should we do. The father of the child has not bothered to pay any child support or showed any interest in her. I feel like both parents have taken us for granted and not shown any responsibility for her wellbeing. What can we do on this matter.

Get your local childrens' services agency to set up child support orders against both parents. Or you could have course sue both of them yourself for child support. Won't do much good now, but you would have it if needed at some future time.

You also probably should get a court-ordered custody decree, in case your daughter seeks to, unwisely it would appear, take her daughter from you at some future time.

First stop sending her any money what so ever. You sending her money is allowing her to live that life style.

Also what do you have in place to stop her from showing up at your door, tonight and taking the child.

Any temp guardianship papers or temp custody ?

So you need to get an attorney and get custody, and a child support order
