oil leak, higher than normal rpm's, and oil is full
I have a 06 dodge cummins 24 valve diesel 3500 4x4. About 1 week ago I noticed a small amount of oil on my road where I park. Since then I have been watching to see if it was from my truck or from my wife's. Well it is from mine. Yesterday I crawled underneath the truck and there was oil on the starter, bell houseing, and sprayed everywhere underneath. When I say sprayed it was like it was flipped with your fingertips towards the back of the truck. I checked the oil level and it was about 1/2 quart low. Today I drove home and stopped in a parking lot to text someone. When I started to drive again an beep sounded, (like a low fuel sound), but no lights came on, then again about 1 mile from there with no lights on the cluster. I again crawled under the truck and there again was oil. This time I could smell it burning on the tail pipe or I guess. I again checked the oil and there was more oil this time by the 1/2 quart it was missing. Also I have noticed that the RPMs are higher. Ussaully at 70 mph it runs about 2200 now it runs about 2400. Any ideas?
The oil is thinner than normal but it did not smell like diesel. I thought maybe I was past my oil change and the oil was too thin and was dripping out of the blowby.

Ensure that the oil filter is tightened properly and that they did not install the filter over the old gasket. This happens all too frequently. Try starting the engine and observe where the leak is. As an aside, I recommend that you start using full-synthetic heavy duty diesel oil in your Cummins. With turbo diesels, you can't afford not to. There are several oil recommendations in the link below:

    Thanks for the quick response!
I have not had the oil change in about 4 months. I know it is time as I drive about 120 miles daily! I did use a full synth. Oil. I was curious before I took it in to the dealer tomorrow. I was told that it maybe a bad injector?
