    Joint debt with my ex
What do I do with joint debt that my ex and I accumulated? The debt is in my name, so (technically) now I am on the hook for all of it.

I have been in NC with my ex for about 4 weeks now.

Do I contact her to ask to pay some of the load?

I'm pretty sure she would be willing to pay some of her side of the debt, but my main question is:

How does a situation like this fit into the rules of NC? Should I wait to contact?

    I appreciate all the advice!

I don't think you should settle this debt on your own. I'd break NC and have a discussion about how to pay it off, she just needs to arrange a standing order to transfer you money each month. Once that's in place there's no need to speak to her again. Just make sure you stick to the topic at hand when speaking - don't venture onto your relationship or what her plans are for the weekend etc. Short and sweet is the way to do it!

Barry1981 has it right. Just contact her and talk to her in a very business-like fashion about the debt.
