Inheriting from france, so stressful, poor family, please help
Its just my grandma and I, We are in poverty in america, she's 80,I'm 20. We live in Illinois. We're from France. A company named COUTOT ROEHIG has track my grandmother and informed her of an inheritance of 300,000 euros.
We understand there's an inheritance tax. We were told 55%. They are badgering us to sign the papers. The problem is they refuse to send a copy of the will and the company lawerys want to another tax of 50% for their share, leaving 300,000 to about only 50,000. We don't know what to do, as we do not wish to bend over and internally ruin or colon, or dampen our knees.
Also, will we have to pay an Illinois tax as well?
What would you do?
Thank you for at least reading, much love to those whom help.

If you live in IL there is no inheritance tax. I can't say whether France has a tax, but not here in the US. Second - do not ever agree to pay for anything up front - if there's a fee associated with tracking you down, it should be taken out of whatever the inheritance is, not up front from you.
There is a company called Coutout-Roehrig based in Paris - note the spelling is different from what you provided. See: Coutot Roehrig, recherche d?héritiers, Généalogie. Leader européen de la généalogie successorale I suggest you call that company to verify that whoever contacted you is indeed an employee of the company and not a scammer.

Yes, COUTOT ROEHRIG, I misspelled, it is not a scam. But, they're fee seems outrageous, as well as them telling the amount, but not printing it on paper. My grandma is from a royal family who rebelled her family and marrid an american. The inheritance could as well beeven more, buthr being so old, she's a target to be ripped.

A phone call to the FBI should confirm or deny whether this is a scam or not.
The next call should be to the French consulate, who can then confirm the taxes involved from France, as well as the validty of the company COUTOT ROEHRIG.
As noted above, there will be NO U.S. taxes on the inheritance.
