    Bad reaction to Water
    My husband is having really bad reactions when he drinks water... bloating, swelling, cramping, etc. What is this caused from and how can he fix it. Its been going on for a few years now and we were wondering if it has to do with his diabetes or something else...
    Can anyone help us?

    This may only be Water intoxication. However, despite of the cause, I am sure by now he is on his way to severe dehydration.

    His blood pressure can becomes very low. A solution containing sodium chloride may be required intravenously.

    Water intoxication is a problem not only among athletes. It can also occur in others who drink large amounts of water and do not eat enough food to provide for electrolyte (salt, potassium) replacement and energy.

    Syndromes e.g. IBS can present similar effects. However, since water is one of the biggest supplier of Hydrogen and oxygen to the blood and other organs, I wouldn't put my fate in the hands of us internet Health Professionals - you should visit you local Hospital Emergency Room, right away!

    He Should Be Having 6 Monthly Checks For His Diabetes At A Diabetes Centre So He Should Mention It When He Next Attends.if It Gets Worse In The Mean Time He Should See His Doctor

    I'm no expert, but can't resist asking: Are the symptoms present even with bottled water? If it's tap water, it could be something in your local supply.
