    Fan motor capacitors
I replaced the fan motor and capacitor on my inside unit last year. I have alread;y replaced the capacitor once this year. Yesterday the motor would kick on, but barely turn and not really blow any air. I looked at the unit and the coils were frosted solid, so I turned off the unit. I plan to replace the capacitor again tomorrow. My question is, why does it keep burning the capacitors? The unit is only 4 or 5 years old, it was replaced through the local utility department through the TVA program. I have minor experience in HVAC, but not really any in troubleshooting though. I would appreciate any insight on this as to not get railroaded when seeking professional help. Note: the unit works great when the capacitor is replaced.

Make sure you are using the correct size MFD and voltage as listed on the motor.

Thanks, today after further observance, I found that my coils were clogged aith gunk and was dripping condesation on my capacitor and fan motor. Looks like I;m buying a fan motor tomorrow. Cleaned the coils on inside and outside today, hope that cures the problem. I guess they were clogged so bad when all the frost melted it just dripped instead of running down to the drainpan. Teaches me a valuable lesson on preventative maintenance on my appliances. Costly lesson
