My Kitchen faucet has been leaking for some time. I finally decide it was time to replace it. I installed a new faucet (one handled type) and replaced both the hot and cold shutoff valves because they did not stop the flow of water. After I turned the water back on and check for leaks, everything seemed to be working great without any leaks in the connections. The problem was discovered when I tried to shut the faucet off... the new faucet leaks more that the old one did.
When I turn off the new shutoff valves, the leaking stops. I tried closing just the hot water valve but there was no change. I shut off the cold water valve and opened the hot water valve and the leaking stopped except for a very slow small drip.

It sounds like you have some debris in the cold side of the faucet, please tell us the brand and the model numbe of your new faucet, and we will tell what to do, Thanks.

Thanks for the reply John. The new faucet that I purchased is an American Standard Cadet Single control Kitchen Faucet 8410/8411 Series.

Close both hot and cold angle valves under the sink, Remove the handle and the cartridge, get some help to open the angle valve one at a time for a few second to flush out any debris out of the faucet reinstall the cartridge and the handle, make sure you have a towel on top of the faucet while some one is opening the angle valves, Thanks.

I have flushed it out twice and it still drips. We live in a very old house and I think I'm ready to hire a plumber. Thanks for your help, John!

Who installed the faucet, a plumber or yourself, if a plumber call him if you did it yourself remove return it to the store for replacement, good luck.
