Help, my water keeps shutting off and on.
I have a submersible system. We have replaced the pump(115 submersible pump), pressure tank(20 gallon), and switch (30-50 psi) in the last year. We have replaced the switch several times. It seems to work for a while and then it starts shutting off again. The water will pulsate and then just shut off. If you wait anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours it will kick back on. The tank is full.

I assume that the tank is a bladder tank. Was it properly set up? With the tank empty of water it should be pressurized to 28 lbs. Have you checked to insure that the piping to the pressure switch is not blocked with rust and debris?

When you replaced the pump, did you check to see how far down it was to water? It might be that your pump is either running dry or cavitating. That will heat the pump up and trip the thermal protection switch. It will stay off for some period until the switch resets.

I found a lot of discussion regarding the turning down of a hot water tank, and shutting off the water when on vacation. My question is does the length of the vacation matter? Over (let's say 6 weeks), would water in the tank evaporate, and wouldn't the tank try to refill itself? With the water...

Water heater burner keeps shutting off [ 6 Answers ]

I just drained my water heater yesterday to try and clean out the build up causing a popping sound. Well now the burner won't stay lit and we have no hot water. It is a gas water heater but electric or pilotless as far as the ignitor is concerned. When I turn it on, the ignitor lights up and...

I recently purchased a cabin that has well water and a hot water heater that is run off the oil furnace. I shut off the well tank when I left but forgot to shut off the hot water heater. Does anyone know if I can damage the heater by having the main water shut off and leaving the water heater on?

Water Heater shutting off [ 5 Answers ]

I woke up this morning to luke warm water. I checked the gas water heater and noticed it wasn't running. I didn't smell gas so I flipped the blower motor off and then back on the pilot lit and began to heat the water. When I got home this evening I realized there was no hot water again and found...
