Why is my treadmill suddenly tripping the breaker?
Several weeks ago I lost power during a thunderstorm. Today I was in the basement and noticed that none of the receptacles were working in an exercise room. The breaker was tripped and it would not reset. I have a treadmill in that room and when I unplugged the treadmill the breaker reset and all the receptacles work fine. I plugged the treadmill into several other receptacles that were on different circuits and the breaker would trip each time. There is no obvious damage/charring visible in the electrical relay or wiring. The treadmill is a Trotter 540 that I've had for over 20 years and I've never had a problem with it. No other appliance, computer, etc. are giving any problems. What have I got here? Thanks

Apparently you have a short in the treadmill. May or may not have been caused by either a lightening strike or voltage spike during the storm. Time to call the repairman.
